Our cruising programme for 2010 is as follows. For further information and enquiries email the Rear Commodore, Sailing, Dave White via cruising@portsmouthsc.co.uk
April 17th
Southsea Marina (HW 1400  4.5m)
Chris Smith

An unusual venue for a rally I hear you say! A good way to start the season weather your boat is in or out of the water. There is a good opportunity for curry lovers here, with a chance to talk about the forthcoming rally diary or to discuss your preferred meal.

Either way, here is a good place for those with and also those without a boat to have a good time.

May 1st - 3rd
St Vaast / Cherbourg
Dave White

Our annual pilgrimage to the other side of the Channel is always a pleasure for those that manage to find their courtesy flag, but sadly has been poorly attended for the last few years. There is always the option of putting in to Cherbourg on the Friday night to add a little extra variety, with a pleasant trip around the peninsular to look forward to. Almost counts as a holiday!

May 22nd
Curbridge (HW 1925  4.3m)
Chris Smith

Another new idea from Chris Smith, this looks like fun! The plan is, to arrive and tie up in Swanwick Marina, then jump in the dinghys and motor up to the Horse and Jockey in Curbridge for refreshments. Now here is another opportunity for those members with ribs to join in. There’s always room to get your head down, and if you fancy you could always drive there!

June 26th
Marchwood (HW 1214 4.4m)
Peter Guy

A perfect distance for a day trip, weather permitting of course! If you have never visited Marchwood SC then you don’t know what you’re missing. Although we haven’t managed to get there for a couple of years, the last time that we visited we were treated to the clubs new restaurant facility.

The food was on time and very tasty. The children that we dragged along were also made to feel welcome.

July 24th
Chichester (HW 1019 4.3m)
David Clarke

Another favourite amongst the regular rally goers, Chichester has it all.
With a long trip snaking up Chichester Harbour, through the lock and on to a pontoon, the trip is fun and full of sights.

It would be hard to beat the catering laid on by the staff at the Club, with huge choices and a very quick service. Once again this rally is within easy reach of those who would prefer to drive rather than sail. SO NO EXCUSES!

August 14th
Folly Inn, Isle of Wight (HW 1518 4.9m)
Dave White

Here’s one for Cruisers, Ribs or even Dinghys!

Generally lots of room to tie up although no electricity or water on the pontoons. The water taxi’s are plentiful and will ferry you across to the pub, or even to west Cowes for a spot of shopping if you have time. The food in the Folly is always good and the choice broad, although 10 minutes in the queue is fairly normal and gives you enough time to make up your mind from the extensive menu and specials board.

September 11th
Lymington (HW 1408 5.0m)
Chris Smith

Lymington has proved to be a top venue over the last few years, If the Club has a function booked, then no problem, there’s a pub opposite! Again, this is a pleasant days sail and not to be missed. With slam door trains rolling down to the station by the waters edge and car ferries from yesteryear bearing down on you as you navigate the passage to your destination, it can seem that you have gone back in time.
For more information on any of the above rallys, please don’t hesitate to contact me. As you can imagine, like any party, the more people that turn up, the more fun we have. So this year lets make the effort and have a party at each destination!
