RIB Theft
30 July 2006 17:51
A blue and grey,
3m Honda RIB, with aluminium floor was stolen from the Boomyard
during the week ending Saturday 26th July.
The RIB's trailer had been moved from its usual position behind the Boomyard's Blockhouse to just by the gate, but the traier was not taken. It is possible that the RIB was deflated and taken over the sea wall or the gate.
If anyone saw the RIB and/or trailer over the course of the week, either in its normal position or elsewhere, would they please respond to this email. Any reported sighting would be helpful in establishing when the theft might have taken place. Please email the Webmaster and the details will be passed on to the member who lost it.
It goes without saying that anyone with a boat in the Boomyard or in Wyllie's Garden should ensure that it is secured, as far as possible. Having a photograph or good description would be useful in case the worst happens.
Thanks for your attention and for any help that anyone can give.

Sail 8
23 June 2005 17:46
Sir Bob Geldof is calling on sailors
and boat owners to form a massive flotilla across the Channel in
July as part of the global call for action against poverty. (GCAP).
Thousands will gather in Edinbugh on the 2nd to spearhead the call
to Make Poverty History in a massive, peaceful passionate protest.
Later that day thousands will echo the call as they take part in
Live 8 concerts in London, Berlin, Paris and Rome. These concerts
are the start of the Long Walk to Justice of which Sail 8 is a
part.
Dame Ellen MacArthur has put her full support behind Sail 8 and the sailing community has been asked to do the same.
The Sail 8 proposal is that the flotilla will leave Cherbourg and arrive in Portsmouth for around 3pm on Sunday 3rd July. There are plans for a rendezvous off Portsmouth to meet the Sail 8 flotilla for yachts unable to make the full trip.
A limited number off Sail 8 boats will be allowed to join in the International Festival of the Sea (IFOS) on the Sunday, thanks to the organisers and the Royal Navy. Full details of Sail 8 and the registration from can be found on the Yachting and Boating World website www.ybw.com. Registration is a must if you want to take part.

URGENT - Broad Street Car Park
15 March 2005 23:43
Portsmouth City Council is meeting
this month to decide on plans to sell off the Broad Street car park
for development. This will mean the loss of 50 car parking spaces,
and will have serious consequences for PSC. The occupiers of any
residential properties erected on the site are likely to voice
strong opposition to the adjacent East Street Slipway on the
grounds of 'noise and nuisance'. The Commodore strongly urges all
members to register their opposition by writing to the local MP, Mr. Mike Hancock at
Portsmouth South Constituency Office, 1a Albert Road Southsea, PO5
2SE, this week. With an election in the offing, members should also
take every opportunity to register their opposition to the plan
with representatives of every political party canvassing in
Portsmouth. Thank you.
