Website Updates

The webmaster is now back from sunny Vancouver sporting a bit of extra jewellery on one hand. Normal website service has now resumed and email will be forwarded and replied to as appropriate usually within 24hrs.

Website Update

This site will next be updated on or after 19th April 2007. Parhelion Series results for the next 2 races (14th April) will be distributed by email.

One More Knot

Once again, Phil Duff is blogging his Spring Series experience's on One More Knot. There is permanent link to his pages on the Links page of this website.

Links Page

The Links page has been reorganised and updated.

Membership Fees

The revised membership fees for 2007 are now on the Membership page.

Website Contact Page

A problem has arisen with the Contact page on this website. It appears to be due either to a code error in the page or a problem server is experiencing when attempting to run the code. The Contact page will be removed until this problem can be resolved. Please use the webmaster email address to get in touch with Portsmouth Sailing Club.

PSC Forum

The Portsmouth Sailing Club forum page has been withdrawn due to lack of use. It may be restored if there is significant interest in its use.

Email Problems

Several competitors have reported problems using the email address 'sailing@portsmouthsc.co.uk'. There have also been issues with other Portsmouth Sailing Club email addresses. The problem has been resolved and was found to be due to a very high volume of junk email on the server which caused it to refuse further traffic and email retrieval. To correct the problem, all email messages on the server had to be deleted without being read. If you have sent a valid email message to any 'portsmouthsc.co.uk' address and have experienced problems, you may wish to try again. Measures have been taken to reduce the amount of messages on the server, but due to the nature and volume of junk email, these measures are no guarantee.

Parhelion Autumn Series Documents

It appears that after a recent update of the site, some of the documents for the upcoming Autumn Series were not available. This fault has now been corrected. Please email the webmaster if any further problems occur.

Parhelion Results and Website

There is currently a problem with this website which is preventing newly uploaded pages from appearing immediately. The server continues to display the older page and not the new one. The exception seems to be this News page. The results of yesterday's Parhelion race have been posted but may not appear, i.e. you will only see results for Races 1 & 2. The updated results page does load after a few refreshes, though at present the Reports page is refusing to do so. I am in discussion with the hosting company to try and resolve these issues.

PSC Forum website

A web forum for PSC members has been set up and can be access via the new button link on the left of this page. There are several areas of discussion already set up, but feel free to add your own. The forum will also be made available for competitors in our yacht and dinghy series. The forum is hosted on a separate server to this site and is funded by some advertising over which the PSC webmaster has no control, however the adverts are not intrusive. The PSC webmaster will also administer the forum. The fourm also inccludes a calendar which will be filled over the coming weeks. Registration is simple and requires a minimum amount of information but please be aware of the terms and conditions of use. Misuse of the forum may result in its suspension by the hosting company.

Because the forum is now up and running, the comments and trackback features for the news page have been removed.

Autumn Series Images

Images from Races 7 & 8 are now on the Images page.

RSS Feed now running

The RSS feed for this site is now running. The URL is feed://www.portsmouthsc.co.uk/files/0.xml, and you will need an RSS compatible browser or application to view the feed. The advantage of this system is that you can use an RSS news reader to pull together current news stories from all over the internet in a single program. The BBC and The Times are some of the organisations using this system.

Port Tack

The latest issue of Port Tack, our quarterly newsletter, is due shortly. As always, contributions from the membership are welcome. The editor, Yola Veck, would like any submissions no later than Friday 16th September. Copy can be left at PSC or emailed via porttack@portsmouthsc.co.uk

Site update and overhaul in progress...

(Yet) another major update and reshuffle is underway, so if you find links not working correctly, please bear with us while the work is completed. The site is tested regularly and dead links are usually found quite quickly. Either that or the webmaster starts getting complaints very quickly...

New Multimedia Files Added

New video clips of racing in the spring series have been added to the multimedia page. You will need Apple Quicktime Player to view these files. Quicktime is a free download via the Links page.

Multimedia page added

As a trial, six short movie clips of racing in the Parhelion Spring Series are available to view on the Multimedia page. The files are in MPEG-4 format, which should be compatible with the latest versions of: Apple Quicktime, Real Player 10, Windows Media Player 10, VideoLAN VLC and other media players.

Comments and feedback welcome.
