Sir Bob Geldof is calling on sailors
and boat owners to form a massive flotilla across the Channel in
July as part of the global call for action against poverty. (GCAP).
Thousands will gather in Edinbugh on the 2nd to spearhead the call
to Make Poverty History in a massive, peaceful passionate protest.
Later that day thousands will echo the call as they take part in
Live 8 concerts in London, Berlin, Paris and Rome. These concerts
are the start of the Long Walk to Justice of which Sail 8 is a
part.
Dame Ellen MacArthur has put her full support behind Sail 8 and the sailing community has been asked to do the same.
The Sail 8 proposal is that the flotilla will leave Cherbourg and arrive in Portsmouth for around 3pm on Sunday 3rd July. There are plans for a rendezvous off Portsmouth to meet the Sail 8 flotilla for yachts unable to make the full trip.
A limited number off Sail 8 boats will be allowed to join in the International Festival of the Sea (IFOS) on the Sunday, thanks to the organisers and the Royal Navy. Full details of Sail 8 and the registration from can be found on the Yachting and Boating World website www.ybw.com. Registration is a must if you want to take part.

(Yet) another major update and
reshuffle is underway, so if you find links not working correctly,
please bear with us while the work is completed. The site is tested
regularly and dead links are usually found quite quickly. Either
that or the webmaster starts getting complaints very
quickly...
