The Early Charts and Maps of the Solent and Portsmouth by Dominic Fontana

During the Tudor period both the Solent and Portsmouth were mapped for the purposes of national defence. The maps themselves are beautiful objects and record a wealth of detail about the Solent and Portsmouth. This lavishly illustrated talk explores much of this historic information, covers aspects of the natural environment, as well as the civil and military infrastructure of the time.
