Club members, Jim and Trish Hughes are back at sea in their yacht Scarlet! (see pictures - credit Mike Wyman) They are currently based in Lagos, on the Algarve. The Portuguese authorities "released" pleasure boaters on Thursday 7 May, allowing boats already in Portugal, whatever the flag, to move freely between marinas. Lets hope the UK follows suit soon!

And, courtesy of Team Locals Media www.teamlocals.co.uk a fantastic picture of our waters looking like the Caribbean :) SOCIAL There will be an online club quiz next Saturday 2 May from 1900 - 1940.

Of course there is no sailing to report but the Sailing Sub Committee met recently (virtually of course!) and although nobody knows how quickly we'll be able to get back on the water we were able to discuss a few aspects of our summer and autumn programme; 1. Portsmouth Regatta. Originally planned for the weekend 16/17 May this has now been cancelled until next year, the weekend 22/23 May 2021 is being considered.

We may not be able get out on the water or into the club for a drink but there are other ways that we can interact with each other and enjoy 'sailing'...... Virtual Racing . Around 20 members have been meeting 'virtually' every evening and competing in a series of short 'computer-generated' races. The simulation is excellent and competitors can find themselves competing at a variety of global venues

It is, of course, all very quiet on the local sailing scene - sadly the only news is of disruption to the sailing and social programme... :( We have cancelled the Spring Spithead Series and postponed the Portsmouth Regatta; we hope that we may re-schedule the Regatta in early September. With sailing and even working on boats probably not deemed to be 'essential reasons' to leave home find attached links to
