Once again we have abandoned racing - Southerly winds of 22kts gusting to 30 kts :( and, perhaps not surprisingly, limited interest from competitors! Oh - how we are looking forward to those warm breezes of the summer...

February has been dominated by storms so sailing opportunities have been limited but there's been lots going on in the Clubhouse! In addition to several Friday evening supper clubs (great food!) we have enjoyed a Wine Tasting Evening, thanks Camber Wines (see picture) a Folk Music 'Jam' session and an excellent talk from local sailmaker Dick Batt. Lots more planned for March and hopefully Spring will arrive and we'll get out sailing!

Portsmouth Sailing Club members have access to a variety of moorings. These are a mix of deep water and drying, club or self maintained and are situated in a variety of areas across the harbour. Several of these moorings have now become vacant and are available to members. They are very reasonably priced! A quiet few months on the water although we did have beautiful weather for our Hot Turkey race on Christmas Day (picture above courtesy of Karen Thompson). This week the University sailors organised an excellent 'Boat Whisperer' talk from Steve Cockerill of Rooster Sailing (picture below) which proved popular with a number of the club members too, in fact the club was full; which was great to see! The Frostbite 2019 completed today - but - unfortunately all racing was cancelled due to the SW'ly gale that was blowing through the harbour!
