The Contessa 32 National Championships were hosted by Portsmouth Sailing Club over three days - Fri 28 to Sun 30 Sept. Six races were provided across the Eastern Solent and Hayling Bay for 13 yachts; the largest Contessa 32 fleet that has raced for many years. The championships were particularly competitive; for the penultimate race 6 yachts finished within 2 minutes and there was all to play for at the start of the final

  • Autumn Parhelion Series Underway ... Just!

The first race of the Autumn Parhelion Series is now complete .. but took place on a grey drizzly Saturday morning in a dying SW'ly breeze. Eleven boats came to the start with Race Officer Darryl Bowles deciding to combine both Divisions. As can be seen from the results only three of the IRC and one of the Club fleet managed to complete the course, frustratingly all other

    Sailing Facilities Upgrade

PSC's new pontoon walkway and crane are now installed and fully operational! This is a huge step forward for PSC and will permit much easier access to the water. The walkway negates the requirement to scale a slippery vertical ladder to get to and from the pontoon and the crane will allow the launch and recovery of boats without the requirement to use the slip way. The crane will provide

    French Rally

The May Bank Holiday Weekend saw seven PSC yachts make their way to Cherbourg for our second rally of the season. Rally Master Peter Guy had clearly managed to put his school boy French language skills to good effect with the harbourmaster's team and we were provided with excellent berths a short walk from the Capitainerie du Port's office and, more importantly, very close to the bar and restaurant! The highlight of the

  • Day Boat Wednesday Evening Series

It had been intended to start Day Boat Evening racing on Wednesday 2 May, however it has been decided to postpone the start of the series due to the delay in the installation of the crane in the Camber. Although the crane is not essential for Day Boat sailing, it's lack of availability makes launching the increased numbers of Day Boats in the Boom Yard extremely difficult, particularly for weekday evening racing. Updated dates for
