Zoom Session Update - Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue (GAFIRS) & HMS MEDUSA

Published 14:11 on 5 Mar 2021

GAFIRS have agreed to provide a short introduction into their operations next Thursday 11 Mar at 19:30. Although we may consider GAFIRS to be 'around the corner' from us here in Portsmouth, they are probably the most likely lifeboat to be tasked to support Portsmouth SC members on our home waters and members may not be aware that a GAFIRS vessel is based in the harbour. It will also be interesting to understand the role of independent lifeboats within an environment where the RNLI tends to gain most of the publicity. All members and guests very welcome. Zoom details will be forwarded by email.

HMS MEDUSA. The HMS MEDUSA lecture, delivered by Alan Watson, was absolutely fascinating and whetted appetites for visits which we hope to arrange once we are free from CV restrictions. A video of the presentation is available to be viewed here https://www.portsmouthsc.co.uk/video/hms-medusa
