Contractor Selection Process
The Committee received complete quotations from three separate contractors, including one new contractor who was recommended by a club member. After careful consideration of all the information provided, the Committee appointed PFC Restoration Ltd to undertake the works.
PFC Restoration Ltd was selected based on multiple factors, including price, previous similar projects, and references. The Committee agreed that this contractor is best suited to meet the needs of Portsmouth Sailing Club and to deliver the project to the required standard.
Programme of Works
- Start date: Monday 9 February 2026
- Weeks 1-3: The club was completely closed to all members to allow the initial phase of works to be completed safely and efficiently.
- Weeks 4-5: The club operated in a limited capacity:
- The ladies facilities were temporarily used as a unisex facility.
- The Bar and JA Room were available.
These dates were selected after reviewing historical club usage during this period, which indicated it is typically one of the quietest times for organised activities and general member use. Scheduling the works at this time helped to minimise disruption to members while allowing the project to be completed as efficiently as possible.
The clubhouse was reopened on Sunday 1 March at 2:00 pm, operating in a limited capacity.
