Autumn Parhelion - Week 4

Published 01:00 on 14 Oct 2017

And another great day of PSC Parhelion racing is complete! RO Ricky Hodgeson started all 14 boats together for a long race that took the fleet back and forth between North Sturbridge and many of the racing marks that lie between Gilkicker and Spit Sand Fort. The fastest boat (John Donnelly's White Cloud IX) completed the course in 2hr 15mins with the slower boats finishing around an hour later however there was plenty to keep crews interested with the fleet crossing each other several times.
It was particularly good to see three new competitors - the Sigma 33s Shadowfax and Workout (from a charity that provides young people the opportunity to try yacht racing http://www.shadowfaxracing.org.uk/) and the Hunter Impala Spectrum with a team from Surrey University. We hope to see them back again very soon.
White Cloud won the IRC Fleet, One More Knot the Club Fleet and newcomers Shadowfax and Workout took first and second in the NHC.

The racing was followed by some excellent food at PSC. Many thanks to all those that helped out on the committee boat and providing food back at the clubhouse.
