Lockdown 2 - Sailing & Boating Update

Published 15:44 on 6 Nov 2020

Current lockdown restrictions with respect to sailing and boating in general are a little different to those in force during the first lockdown.

This time around recreational sailing is permitted, however outdoor sport facilities (including clubs) are to be closed and organised sport is not permitted. For PSC this means that we will not be able to run any organised sailing over the lockdown period, so the Frostbite series to 29th Nov will be cancelled. Noting that club facilities should be closed, access to yards and pontoons should be limited to individuals checking on boats.

You are, however, permitted to sail recreationally from public areas (slipways or beaches) and many marinas are remaining open. If you do wish to get out on the water, you should either do so alone, with people you live with (your household) or with one person from another household.

QHM (Portsmouth) has not (yet) issued any specific guidance covering this lockdown but the general tone is likely to encourage all to adhere to the Government's lockdown guidelines requiring people to stay at home, except for specific purposes.
