Spring Spithead Series - Final Races Abandoned

The final races of the Spithead Series, planned for Sat 8 May, were abandoned due to excessive winds and sea state. (See Bramblemet wind readings showing winds consistently over 25 kts and gusts over 35 kts). The committee vessel, Mary Siobhan, headed out into the race area but it was clear that the conditions were untenable for either anchoring the committee vessel or safe yacht racing. A disappointing end to the series. Results for the series are here https://www.portsmouthsc.co.uk/spring-spithead-ser...We do have some good pictures of racing over the last few weeks that will be posted here soon. Competitors may also wish to note the Portsmouth Regatta, due to be held 5/6 June. This event is jointly hosted by the Royal Naval Club & Royal Albert Yacht Club, the Victory Class Association and Portsmouth Sailing Club, more details here - https://www.portsmouthregatta.org/
